New lid...
« on: January 31, 2010, 08:53:53 PM »

Anyone using a Suomy lid?? I'm thinking of having a change from my normal brand loyalty of Shoei...

Has anyone ever crashed in one too??

Scratch that - I've just checked Suomy's website and there is no UK importer listed  :dontknow:

I just checked my 2010 trade directory Dave. It lists the UK importer as being Suomy UK in Herefordshire

telephone number is 01531 631272 but no more details are listed

I've got a Suomy, not a new one mind, but compared with the Schoei it's very second tier.  I feel the shell is too small, I get a lot more windblast on my chin than with the old Z-One, or the XR1000.  The first click on the visor is too much, there's about an inch of space, it lets too much air in to be an effective demister in slow traffic.  I'd definitely recommend you try one on to see if you're comfortable wearing it, rather than buy by price over the internet.

Well spotted, I have a Shoei-friendly head, I don't get on with Arai at all.  Maybe if you have an Arai head the Suomy will fit like a glove, I find it presses against my forehead too much.

I would try them first before I buy - doing it the other way round is a bit daft!! My head is Shoei shaped, however I'll have a go first.. Some interesting observations there though Doug, cheers for that  :icon_thumright:

I take an XL, which means cheap lids at the NEC, but maybe it puts me at the limit of the Suomy shell size.

Regarding trhe Arai i was going for the rx7 the mother od Arai lids. However after trying it on against the cheaper chaser model i preferred the fit of the chaser and went for the Samurai model. Pinlock insert visor and pinlock came with it to stop it misting up and you get a free service also ( Heine Geriick)  :icon_thumright:
