trackbike update.
« on: February 02, 2010, 03:01:23 PM »

well as i previously posted my trackbike purchase has turned out to be a bit of a lemon,! [wall] what with the gearbox problem and the engine putting out shit power, after bouncing a few ideas about, the general opinion was not to bother throwing effort and money at it with a transmission overhaul and engine refresh, as this would end up being fairly costly. Instead i was advised to junk the old lump and pick up another. Well after a bit of homework it appears that the 2003 zx6rr and the 2003 zx636 other than parts associated with displacement ( crank, rods, piston, cams) everything else on the two bikes is the same including cylinder head and injection system. Decided to take the plunge and sourced a low mileage b1h 636 engine ( including ecu as this too is model specific) which i picked up today. I realise i will be losing the slipper clutch but as i,ve never ridden with one before i ain`t gonna miss it, and i think i would prefer the extra mid range of the 636 anyway. It,s being fitted this afty so i will report back 2morra with the progress. In the meantime if anyone just happens to have any pointers or potential problems with the switch, please give us reply, cheers. :icon_thumright:

yes you can swap the clutches over so you can have a 636 w/slipper!

i was going to do this to my b1h but couldn't find any 2nd hand ones as you don't come across 599cc engines that are being broken for parts  [wall]

you have the perfect opporunity  B-)
