Boilers...
« on: January 27, 2010, 08:22:58 PM »

Can anyone recommend a decent supplier/installer for a gas central heating boiler in the North Wales/Cheshire area??

Well big hats off to Silky22 and his old man Chris  :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright: We now have a brand new Viessman boiler and a fully working heating/hot water system  :icon_thumright: have a couple of ponies.

Now to name and shame the muppets. Anyone who lives around North Wales/Chester/Wrexham avoid these clowns...

Regency Fireplaces in Buckley - they allegedly serviced our existing crap Alpha boiler for years and never once spotted that it had been installed incorrectly. When it finally blew in Nov 2008 their response was '...so what...' - use at your peril.

Phil at Granada Gas Services in Chester - he took over from Regency and immediately spotted that there was a blow off line missing which would have prevented the above incident in Nov 08. He installed same (poorly!). He was also asked to recommission the boiler and rebalance/clean the heating system up, but he failed to show up and contact us. After Sharon contacted him he just hung up and refused to take any more calls - again use at your peril.

The original installers were Gas Wise on the Wirral; they are now bust but the engineer who installed the Alpha boiler is Mr. K. Brown - again avoid him.

Sorry it's a bit long, but I get pissed off with dodgy workmanship and crap customer service, and it goes to show how poorly and uninterested local tradesmen are in this area. There are also two other companies I contacted to come and give us a quote for a new boiler system, but they weren't interested - I mean fancy turning down a couple of grand to supply and fit a new boiler and also gain additional customers!!! These were - Arrow Electrical and Plumbing Services in Chester and a local company who have just gone under!!!
