My lads gave me a shoei xr1000 for chrimbo and its my first helmet with the pinlock. Went out for the first time with it today and it was brilliant, got some misting around the outside of it but clear where it mattered.

Is it sealing to the visor properly.

try smearing a lttle bit of washing up liquid on the inside of the visor or get a foggy mask.sometimes the visors lose thier anti-mist coating so the answer is a new visor  :icon_thumleft:

the pinlocks are usually adjustable, have you checked the fit?
One of our arai helmets needed adjusting on the pinlocks cos the insert did not seal properly to the visor and so allowed it to mist up.
only a girly suggestion, probably no help at all lol

Never had any problems with misting with either of the Arai's Ive had pinlocks fitted to.

On my mirrored and black visor I use Muc-Off anti mist which is very good

I sometimes have the same issue with my XR1000, it is the inner visor not srealing correctly, do what MrsDaddy says  :icon_thumright:

Could be a couple of things which need addressing, first as already mentioned the pinlock could simply require adjustment to get a better seal around the edges. The second is that the pinlock insert could have gotten dirty and needs cleaning.

Remove the pinlock from the visor, hold the pinlock under running lukewarm water and use a very small amount of ph neutral liquid soap (eg dove) to gently clean the surface with the tip of your finger. Rinse off the soap and shake off any excess water from the pinlock. Use a hairdryer to dry off the pinlock or pat dry with a soft lint free cloth, do not wipe it dry as this can cause scratches in the pinlocks surface which reduce its effectiveness.

If either of these makes no difference to the pinlocks effectiveness, go to your nearest bike shop and buy another one

Spit on the inside and wipe it till it's not smeary, wont mist up for a while then ... smells a bit though ...

There a liquid called "Bob Heaths ... something" IIRC which is a de-mist spray, tis a small bottle so you can keep it in your pocket, spray it and wipe and lasts a good few months every spray but during winter when condensation builds up a lot and sort of washes it off it needs a applying a bit more.

Or as above, foggy's work well, but I find during the summer, can sometimes effect clarity with sun rays bending slightly through the extra layer, not much of an issue in real terms tough, just stick the black visor on.
