As my last post informed you guys i,ve recently acquired a zx6 trackbike. It has no V5 so not road legal. As yet i haven,t even ridden the thing and previous owner was straight with me and said that the last trackday he did on the very last session the gearbox was a bit iffy changing from 3rd to 4th. My dillema is this,... i want to ride the bike to go up through the gearbox and check it out, and as our local port shopping car park is huge (and completely empty at night) and has a huge perimeter road, this would offer me the chance. Now dont get me wrong, i,m not gonna take the piss and use it for kneedown or wheely practise, i literally want to
just go up through the gears. I,ve been told it,s not classed as public highway but my instinct tells me i,d still get fooked for it, what do you think?
I know the easy option is to book a trackday, but i don,t fancy going out on a bike that i,ve already been informed has a slight gearbox problem (end up being flagged off, or possibly worse !
) and i dont want to run it into my local mechanic to fix a problem that supposedly only happened once and secondly i haven,t felt for myself. Imagine shelling out for a transmission overhaul only to be told " nothing wrong with it"
Any suggestion? ( other than sell it
)
