what worries me most is that she told me whilst laying in the road that its not the first time she;s had an accident, now this one wasn't her fault and maybe the previous one wasn't too ,but i thought maybe after the first off she might have at least done her helmet up, maybe even bought some gloves . i guess until she has one where she really hurts herself , its never going to sink in.

I can't talk.

When I'm out on the bike I'm head to toe kit, no matter how short the journey or how hot the weather. But this summer when I was commuting on the scooter it was often trainers, jeans, gore-tex jacket and leather gloves. I only started putting the full gear on a month ago cause the weather was crap and the roads slippy.

I'm a muppet for having ridden without my proper trousers and Sidi boots. Thing is, I can't stand people riding bikes without kit (especially sports bikes in trainers and no gloves - that's my prime wibd-up) yet there I was, scooting away with only the proverbial 'wispy bit of guage' to protect me. It's complacency, and I'm lucky I didn't get tagged doing it.

I have vowed never to do that again. It's scooters, you get sloppy on them.

I was reading somewhere that in the USA in some states that the only legal requirement when riding is a pair of sunglasses! :icon_scratch: Suppose we've all seen those amature stunters on u tube ....They are prob. more manly than us though [rofl] wearing sorts and flip-flops

Yes its true..............a highway patrol officer pulled me near deadwood, south dakota for speeding on my mates harley.  I was not wearing a lid, or gloves, just a t-shirt, shades and jeans etc (just getting the whole Steve McQueen thing out of my system), but he did insist that eye protection was law............so in an accidentt, at least I could have still donated my corneas......
