Is it true that big engine(1000cc) is better for big mileages than 600cc?

Usually a larger engine has more torque which means less gearchanges, less revs so less wear and tear on the engine. On the flip side they usually go through tyres faster

i`v got a few customers with zzr1100`s with over 170,000 miles on the clock, and a local bike instructor with a bmw that has 150,000 miles on the clock.

That"s a ton"s of miles,,,,,,,,on my first zx(sold one year ago :crybaby2:) in eight months time I"ve done 9000 miles,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but if engine even 600cc have a good maintenance every thing should be ok

yeah if you maintain it correctly then you'll have no problems. if you did the excat same riding and same milages on two different capacity bikes then engine life would be pretty much the same. but left to your own devices you tend to thrash a 600 more for the same speed, causing more wear, so yeah theoretically a 1000 is better.

I read about a courier with a YPVS 350 Yam that had over 180,000 on the clock, and another courier with VF750 Honda that swapped engines at a claimed 500,000 :shock:

I used to dispatch with a bloke who had a 350LC and that had a really high mileage on it; my 400 gamma was up around 60 000 before I sold it  :icon_thumright:

my zx10r needs a rebuild at 7,500 miles, its down 6 bhp from last year  [whistle]

just keep an eye on my rebuild post..
