Garage Flooring
« on: December 05, 2009, 10:29:50 AM »

Anyone in North Wales/Chester/Liverpool and I guess Manchester(?) recommend a decent concrete/screed specialist who can correct a few flaws in my garage floor?

I have been badly let down by the following companies - Deecrete, Chester Flooring and Deccon - all of whom promised the earth and when crunch time came were nowhere to be found.

Dave, what are the flaws you mention?
Can you not do it yourself as to lay a screed is quite easy, or some self leveling compound may be all you need.
Are you tied with levels as in doorways etc?

Kev,

It's an existing concrete floor and there is a height difference of +-30 mm over a 3 metre length. I would ordinarily do this myself, however due to the thickness required it will need some fancy epoxy screed to be laid. I've spoken to a builder friend of mine and he wouldn't touch it due to the thickness involved.

Couldn't you tile it, like the workshop area at Demon Tweeks?

Use a self leveller from Wickes. They do one for 25mm+.
Used it on mine and just remamber to use the screed rake to make sure it levels off.
Easy to do with a mixer, a mate and a pack of beer.
