I've got a Hotpoint WD62 washer dryer, and it leaks a little dirty looking water onto the floor.
I've tried rubbing its nose in it, but it's still doing it. 
Anyway, I've took the back of, and it looks like it's coming from a tiny hole in the back of the drum housing, just above where the pulley shaft goes in.
It's black, like its coming through a bearing?
Any ideas?

i have a water leak just started on my hotpoint WD62 Aquarius 1200 washer/dryer, which only seems to leak when i use the tumble dryer. the water seems to build up around the right hand side as i am facing the machine.
any ideas much appreciated

The dryer condensor can become blocked which leads to a leak down the back of the drum. There is a small drain hole in the fan chamber of the condensor that gets blocked, this can then fill with water and leak down the back.

If you remove the mains plug and take off the back panel you may see signs of water leaking down the back , right hand side of the drum looking from the back.

Although the drain pump is on the right hand side looking from the from it rarely leaks. It could be that water is leaking onto the chassis and running around the base and out of the side away from the actual leak.

The condensor is the large plastic tube running from the metal heater box on top of the drum down into the back of the drum. A rather awkward thing to remove and clean though.

Also needs to be refitted with care. If it comes adrift or the mountings break off then you are in trouble as the condensor has been obsolete for almost 12 months now. 

The door seal can also split at the top, run your hand around the inside of the seal to check.

One way of checking if the leak is from the condensor if there are no obvious signs is to lay a couple of sheets of kitchen towel on the base at the back right hand side looking from the back and see if it gets wet.

I also do a slight modification to one of the water inlet tubes.

There are two hoses going into the top of the condensor, a ribbed one that allows a small trickle of water to run down the condensor during the drying cycle and a smooth hose that is used during the rinse cycles to flush out the condensor.

Inside the aperture for the smooth hose is a white plastic insert, this has a shaped end that is supposed to spray the flushing water across the face of the condensor. If you have a high water pressure it can actually spray water back up into the fan chamber.

If I have a leak problem from this area then as well as cleaning the condensor, especially the tiny drain hole in the fan chamber, I cut off the end of this insert so that the water jets down into the condensor instead of spraying back into the fan chamber.

just to let you know, your advice was spot- on, i inspected the door seal and right at the top is a split about long, so i will change that.

just thought i would mention that, after fixing the door seal, i still had a small leak, which i found to be the very bottom metal clip that holds the two parts of the drum together had flipped off and was sat in the frame at the botton, so i split the drum, cleaned the seal and re housed it properly and all is now fine, apart from there seems to be a lot of movement when the machine is on slow spin, the motor bangs the side of the cabinet etc, there are two springs on the top and two shocks underneath.

Its possible that the suspension units are weakening. If you use the old car shock testing trick and push down hard then release, on the top of the drum it shouldn't 'bounce' .

There is a complete suspension kit if required.

If it has the old style GDA motor fitted then it is possible that the motor tacho cap has been disturbed, this would cause the motor speeds to be out of synch.

Under loading with heavy items will also cause out of balance.

Cheers Pat, unfortunately I don't use the tumble dryer part, its only when its washing.
Taken another look, and it seems to be coming through the bearing and seal at the rear of the drum.
Looks like a full strip down

How old is the machine? Is it worth repairing ?

Its 6 years old.
Just done carbon brushes and door seal, so I might as well keep going!
