Space Shuttle Launch.
« on: September 14, 2009, 08:35:48 PM »

Taking the Wife and kids to Disneyworld Florida on May 10th 2010 and im sooo looking forwrd to it.     :headbang:

Anyway ive looked on the NASA shuttle launch schedule and there is a launch 4 days into our holiday.  Has anyone else seen the shuttle launch?  I wonder if it would be worth making the trip to the space center or can you appreciate it from anywhere in Orlando?
                                                                                                                       Cheer's  CHRIS.       :icon_sunny:

Orlando is about 50-60 miles from Cape Canaveral so I don't think you'll see much without driving up to the coast.

Haven't seen a launch myself (would love to!), but I've been to Cape Canaveral & the NASA centre & speaking as someone who was a kid in the 60s & fascinated about the whole space program, it was brilliant  - They've got a whole fookin Saturn 5 there laid out horizontally !!    :headbang:

I thoroughly recommend taking a drive up there.

Thanks lads your right it would be mad to be in Florida and not give yourself the best chance of seeing this amazing sight.
Will definitely be taking a trip to the space center sounds great.   :icon_thumright:

The only other thing is ive never driven a left hand drive car and never on the opposite side of the road.   :emb:    Anyone got any tips for me on car hire over there before i cause mayhem on the roads.    :tongue3:

Driving over there isnt that different, just look out for 4 way stops and at most lights you can turn right when when its red, unless there is a sign saying no right turn on red, of course. Get an auto as a hire car too. Most petrol stations are card pay and the fuel dispensers lock open so you can stick it in and let it fill. You can use switch at most places too which is handy.

Just make sure you actually stop before turning right though , otherwise you might get to share a cell with Bubba
