heard from a good source that there is a wee problem with 09 R1`S, im told that the cam chain tensioner  is failing and the cam chain is rapping its self round the crank or cams and next thing is valves/ pistons all coming together and thats means its proper fucked.

sure it would be covered by warranty if that happened.or if there is/was then a recall

yeah covered under warranty, its just a major thing when one lets go.

well could be a bad ,if it less go on a corner !!!

Could be something to do with the cross-plane crank. Will be a recall if alot start failing.

Not good for such a new bike. Will be interesting to see how many have the same fault.

A friend of a friend had his tensioner replaced afer 600 miles after it was getting noiser  after trip to the man this year no probs since

Friend has one , done 6000 miles. In for service and needs a new clutch ( he is not heavy handed) also in this service new spark plugs needed. Dealer says he knows nothing of tensioner problems on the road bike but reports with the race ones are begining to circulate.

Got 2 reports of the same problem over here in Kuala Lumpur.
Also 08-09 Blades having lost engine oil levels quite drastically.

My mates older 5 valve R1 used to drink a fair bit.....No probs with the 4 valvers though. Still a pretty smart bike IMO.
