depends what you want.

private--usually cheaper

dealer--- bit more come back, piece of mind, but not always,px option if needed.

if i find the bike i want,at the right price then makes no odds to me.  :icon_thumleft:

My first bike I bought at the dealer but about a few weeks later I saw that bike was probably damaged bike had different shade of paint on front and was something wrong with engine,so maybe I should decide to buy a private. Cheers scooby :icon_thumright:

AA- same as RAC,the will come and do a relatively in depth check over the bike, and let you know of any potential problems, but at a cost.

HPI check basically tells you if the bike has any outstanding finance on it and if it has been recorded on the accident database, again at a  cost but not a huge amount.

the best advice was given by Andyj,it's very easy to get over excited when buying a new bike and miss or dismiss little things, where as a friend who knows what they are doing can be a little bit more level headed. :icon_thumright:

I've bought from a dealer once and that was a new bike. I prefer to buy private. Obviously much better prices and all the bikes I've bought that way have been looked after and have had service history :)
