new boots

this winter al b gettin myself some new boots, i currently have astar smx plus boots
and think the world of them. comfortable and im sure if a had an off they'd do a job.

basically seen a survey in mcn, these boots came 7th out of ten.

tcx competizione came 1st, any1 have a pair of these? how r they?

or what do u have and r they any good??

that line alone should be enough to make you slap yourself in the head and have a word with yourself.

MCN = More Crap than News

if you're happy with your SMX's stick with them. The design has remained unchanged for about 7 or 8 years which can only mean one thing, they're a fookin good boot. Good enough for the likes of Nori Haga to crash in :)

ive got the smx plus boot, bought em this year and the bloody things wont stop squeaking!! not all that comfortable compared to my sidi,s either. i wont be getting another pair.

hahah, i agree i have them too and they are great but squeak a bit too much....its annoying in shops ect. :emb:

I've got some Oxtars (what TCX used to be before Astars took legal action). Good boot but a little on the narrow side and also very squeaky as well. The best boots i've used are my Daytonas. All day comfy and no noise, they just don't have the race rep stormtrooper look, which can be a plus or minus point to some.

imo if theres nothing wrong with yr boots,why change them :dontknow:
i had a pair of smx plus for a year & couldn't fault them apart from those shitty loud squeeks which turned heads everywhere i went,but soooooo comfy
i got sidi vertigos now :icon_thumright:

love my supertec r's....as comfy as fav trainers yet feel secure....just ad a big off and came away unscathed...trashed 2grands worth of riding gear tho  :crybaby2: av a vented pair for summer and unvented for winter.....best boots ever ad...far better than sidi vertigo corsa and no squeeks ...only down side to smx-plus...when i ad mine i squirted liquid dubbin between ankle plate and lower part...solved the sqeeks instantly and permanently...available from jjb and most sports shops...there u go....my few words of wisdom....lol

most if not all of the top sports boots squeak to some degree or other, its just how they are because of all the plastic supports to protect your ankles. You want protection, you're gonna get a few squeaks. As has been said simply lubricate the effected areas to minimise the problem.  :icon_thumleft:
