I'm a part time clay shooting instructor and always amazed how much ladies lean back when the are about to shoot for the first time, good job the gun wasn't a 12g with some 36g game cartridges, the result would have been a little different.

   Yeah, a bad combination.  I haven't shot competitively since I was about 19 and often saw novices doing the leaning back thing.  To be honest, its bloody dangerous depending on the gauge.  Not necessarily falling over, but damage to neck, back, shoulder etc.

Lean into it and get that stock right into your shoulder.  Loads of control and you can follow the clays easier.  Get away with clays having bad posture, but not with game...You'll miss and scare the rest off

Thats interesting to hear nuddy, I have shot most things from a GPMG to a Russian Dragunov but never had the pleasure of shooting a shot gun any chance of letting me have a dabble! some time??

  Some lessons for the basics are well worth the money, Always amazed me when doing competitions how many spent good money on entry fees etc. and really didm't have a clue what they were doing.


Could try and get some 24g subsonic/low recoil cartridges for her. The side by sides are often light and can kick like a mule if you are using 28g stuff. Been using a 12g o/u for years now but dusted off my old 20g s/s for my son a little while back, bloody thing nearly jumped out of my hands on the first shot .

Always thought teaching the wife how to shoot could be a bad move, hide the cabinet keys .

  was partly my fault as I was to busy filming n not checking her stance, she fired the 12g with 36g game just after the vid, nearly popped her shoulder
