well done Jason (downhill mtb racing)

well my lad entered his first downhill mountain bike race today and after a few crashes yesterday in practise and a fall in race 1 , after which he remounted to finish with the chain off , he then rode a good race 2 and finished, again with the chain off and managed I think 55th from 67 , or something like that  :headbang:

It's a series of races, so to finsh ahead of 12 people in his first race is due respect  :headbang:

the course looked scarey to me   :shock:

well done Jason

next time you'll do better and if you can sort that bloody chain so it stays on and take some of those huge jumps you'll be up there melado  in the top 30  :icon_thumleft:

yes Andy, the standard Specialized one , so he'll be changing it for something that works for next time    :icon_thumleft:

I used to have a DCD (Dave's chain device iirc) back in the day. There was aloso a bracket that mounted on the rear mech and pulled the chain tight with a spring. The best ones were the rollers on the front chain ring

cheers Bob , yes it's a good bike ,  with upgraded forks.It stands at a reasonable 2.5k so far  :icon_thumright:  there were a lot of trick and very expensive bikes there, some with forks costing 2.5k alone  :shock:

yes Andy, Jasons  has the runners  but when he took a hard landing off it popped  :-/  i reckon softer landings and a new device will sort it  :icon_thumright:

Cheers guys,

Aching today due to the falls, knees quite swollen but should go down in a couple of days.
Then hopefully back out practising at the weekend for the next event in September.

Was a good weekend and quite a steep track. There were 88 confirmed riders in the senior category (18-29 years old) however only 68 posted a first run time and i was 58th.

Second run went well (untill the chain hopped off on the final sprint) and i posted a time 20 seconds faster than my first run. which if compared to run one then i would have placed 44th, but i think i've ended up 55th. Will have to wait for the results to be posted before i can confirm that though.

Hopefully i'll do a bit better next time round. But was a good laugh all in all.
