Steve,

At the risk of sounding like I've got a bad case of wishful thinking - all roads should lead to Tongue. You've got 40 miles of single track roads with passing places from most directions. The only thing north of you is the Arctic Circle and the scenery is mind-blowingly beautiful. It is literally one off those routes where you pull the bike over and go "am I really seeing this?" - it's that spectacular.

All routes to Ullapool are cracking too.

I think Callander is a great wee town to start off from if you're riding up from the south.

To be honest, you can't go wrong in Scotland - I've got a brilliant 3 day route if you wanna use it to get some ideas.

Let me know.

Hey pal, if work, (and she who must be obeyed doesn't get in the way), I can tag along on one of your road trips. You are spoilt for choice really and Kinross is not a bad base, nice and central. The further north you go the thinner on the ground the feds are but they are out in force on the popular Oban and Glencoe roads so beware. As mentioned, Ullapool and also the Loch Carron area are awesome but you have got to take the Invergarry to Kyle of Lochalsh road, one of the best hoons to be had in the UK! On the way back, tackle the road to Applecross then onto Inverness by Lochness. Short trip down through Glen Garry on the A9 (then peel of at Pitlochray past Loch Tay the back to Kinross past Loch Earn. A monster hoon but if you stop often enough then you will only need the 1 week at the chiroprators!

Will let you know nearer the time if I can make it.

Cheers,
John

hey mate
i aint got a road bike no more but i`ll see a few friends if they can take you out . you can pretty much go anywhere from kinross - the sma` glen thats gilmerton to aberfeldy then you could head up to tyndrum to glen coe and back by loch earn. or braemar theres plenty to do up here mate.and previous post is a defo the run up to the kyle of lochalsh is awesome.

will get back to you soon as.

Steve I meant to post up my route but I've been dead busy at work and haven't had time.

The A835 has already been mentioned - we did it on a hot summers day in July and it was the best day's riding of my life. You can keep you Route Napoleon, the road to Ullapool is the one.

Glen Coe is awsome but it's the great biking roads that live longest in the memory.

If you venture up to Glencoe then B863 to Kinlochleven aka Scotsburgring is a must. Very twisty with plenty of evelation changes, once you go around the once you will be hooked.  :brave:
