Pilot 2s, Dual Compound
« on: March 20, 2007, 09:57:13 AM »

That dreaded time has finally came, i am in need of some new tyres. My wheels are currently rapped in Dunlop BT102s. I haven't had a problem with them (mostly because i haven't pushed the bike near what it can do yet), but each time i go out, im pushing the bike a considerable amount more.

I have heard alot about these Pilot 2s, the dual compound ones. Has any one got them, are they any good? I am a fairly mixed rider, between the odd comute to work, off to Scotland in April to tour and a blast at weekends. So the sound of the harder compound in the middle, makes me think of longer life.

I run 2CT's. I put them on just before a trackday at Silverstone in September last year. They were pretty good on track, but as it was my first time there I didin't push them until they started sliding. Still managed to run a decent pace though, without a single hiccup. On the road they are also great, warming up pretty quick and far more grip than you need. The profile is slightly sharper than most road tyres which makes them steer quite quick (which I prefer). Overall the best tyre I've used except for Racetecs (which obviously won't last anywhere near as long).
