In the process of planning a long weekend bike trip & digging up some websites with biking routes.

I'm sure most people know http://www.bestbikingroads.com/

but this is also a great site: http://www.alpineroads.com/passes.php with details about passes in France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Italy.

Planning on heading across the south of Switzerland & over to Italy in the direction of the Stelvio Pass.

Anyone got any others to add?

It's a funny old thing but my favorite biking roads in France are not in the Alps, they are in La Region Centre - especially round Sancerre. Every road round there is a beauty with a lovely variety of corners and the most perfect surfaces. The French lads on their Z750's tear up the place but you very rarely see British bikes round there.

Granted, the views in the Alps are worth the trip but often the famous passes are blast-hairpin-blast-hairpin. They're also full of cyclists. And I refuse to ride fast past a cyclist, as cycling in the Alps is another one of my favorite pastimes.

Those quiet, rural, non-touristy bits of France are relatively undiscovered and offer a cracking challenge. Do 300 miles in a day on those roads and you'll sleep well that night.

Just like the trip next week to the Stelvio Pass.....well worth the trip, some great routes there & back, but the pass itself has 60 hairpin corners....so blast-hairpin-blast-hairpin repeat & follow by pint. Still Clarkson & the bunch chose it as best driving road in europe?!?

me and a mate have been talking about going on a european tour for years. going to get the ferry booked soon to get the ball rolling. i've been on my bike to watch the le mans moto gp a few years ago but that was just straight there and back. would like to find a good route that would include nurburgring, northern italy, southern france and back up north,maybe even a bit of spain. not sure how long this would take though. a week maybe? i know the ferry is cheap but how much would be a decent ammount of money to take if staying in b & b's?

Will be a great trip  Plan between 30 - 40 euro per night for BnB's, 20 - 30 euro per day for food, pertol depends.....also expect a few toll roads.
