 :icon_scratch: OK people. A good friend of mine has just purchased a new ZZR 1400......  HE asked me, so I am now asking here......  Is it a good mod to drop 1 tooth on front sprocket like we do on our 10`s???  And,what are the best choices of tyre he should fit when he has worn the OE`s out running it in??? Thanks for any help...  I am punishing him into signing up with us!!!! LOL,,,   :shock:
 Oh, he is a knee down merchant type of bloke.....      :occasion14:

leave it as it is,
i did a road test on a zzr1400 when they came out plus did a track day on one, they have so much grunt they dont need the gearing changed,
regards tyres i was scrapping the exhausts on O.E tyres, could fault the bike there ace.

Has your mate ever considered taking up drag racing? lol if the acceleration from a standard ZZR1400 isnt enough maybe that would satisfy him?  :lol:

a wee bit of topic but is there any benifit dropping one tooth of the front sprocket for road riding  :icon_scratch:, how much difference does it make , my bike is running standard gearing at the moment .

I'd say it depends on your riding style. If your progressive rather than aggressive then leave as standard, if you like that little extra wooooosh out of a corner or off the lights and not worried about top speeds then playing with ya teeth is the way forward.

Yep, quite a bit.
The speedo is run off the front sprocket and is calculated by the diameter of the wheel, ratio of the tyre, no of revolutions of the sprocket.
Change any of these and the speedo will be out.
FYI the standard speedo on an 06 10r is out by 9mph at 100mph (true 91mph)

My speedo healer was set up with a 50 rear tyre and putting a 55 back on its out by 2mph now at an indicated 100mph.
