I take off the rear seat, and use the metal bar under the rear seat that goes across either side of the subframe to hold the bike upright while taking it off the stand, quite simple this way.

Normally get a hand when taking it back off just to be on the safe side, did drop my 636 in the garden once broke the rear brake bracket and bent the rear brake lever scuffed the bottom of the fairing a little and was totally pissed off, bike just whent over off balance thankfully most of the upper part of the bike landed on the grass.

I use a micron rear stand. When taking it back off the paddock stand I leave the side stand down. Standing at the offside with my hand covering the front brake I push the bike forward, and with my left foot infront of the stand to stop it rolling forward, feather the brake as it rolls off the stand if you do it right it gently rolls off the stand. It takes a bit of practice until you get used to it. Sometimes it comes down a bit fast but it is normally ok. The only damage you can do this way is may be hit the number plate when the handle on the stand flicks up too quickly.

HTH.

Yeah thought everyone left the side stand down, much easier as it just plops on the stand and comes off nicely when lifting???

mongos got it right.. simplest way to do it...never do it with the pillion seat strap because it flexes too much. needs to be solid
