Dealer has damaged my bike...ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE
« on: April 05, 2009, 09:06:27 AM »

Took my 58 plate '08 just under 6 month old bike  in for warranty work (paint flaking off lower fork leg) They fitted a new lower fork leg......took them over 4 hours

When about to ride away I noticed that the gold anodised nut on the top of forks was scuffed and scratched (see pics) also there is a scuff on the underside of the fork leg which must have been done when they were compressing the forks to put them back together and the preload adjuster at top of forks is slightly scratched.

Went back into dealer and showed them and they tried to tell me that the nut couldnt be put back on without scuffing the finish :?:

Told them what I thought (politely) and that I wanted it sorting. But, all they have done is say they will contact Kawasaki on Monday and ring me to let me know what they say. The owner of the dealer didnt seem interested when I phoned him and just said that the warranty guy was dealing with it.

At then end of the day they have damaged my bike and I got it back from then in a worse condition then when it went in.

What are my rights...in case they start being funny

We have talked, it's just bad spannering! keep on top off dealers "don't take any prisoners" they will try to fob you off but stand your ground. Bike went in undamaged and that is how you expect it back. If you need take it direct to Kawasaki UK.

like horse said it's poor spannering, it won't be covered by warranty, dealer should put it right as it was them that damaged it.......don't let them away with it :icon_thumleft:

I'd just touch up the paint and use another dealer in future. Just about all dealer employees are useless wallys who don't take a pride in their work (probably a bit different with their own bikes)

Shouldnt have to touch up any paint (although wish I had in the first instance then this wouldnt have happened) and as for the anodising I cant touch that up

But know what you are saying about the mechanics not giving a shit.

At the dealers I went to you can see them working in the workshop and I wasnt impressed with what I saw either. Youd have thought they would take a bit more care knowing that they can be seen!!

yeah in an ideal world it would all be sorted, however you'll have to take your bike in again so you're off the road. Then they'll have to compress the spring to remove the top cap ....can you see where this is going? Do you really want them working on your bike again?

Name and shame them Nick....That's poor standards imo, keep on at them, you might not want them to carry out any more work but they should at least pay to get it sorted for you  :icon_thumleft:
