Stoopid tyre question!!!!!!

Why are our bikes fitted with a gert big 190 section at the rear and a little diddy 120 at the front when the front brakes are capable of generating as much, if not more, force than the engine? Im not questioning the fact that its right to do it this way, just wondering why.

The front has to steer as well as stop, the rear just applies power, and dangles in the breeze when the front brakes are applied.  I think you'd need power steering to run a 190 front.

i'm sure trial and error over the years have honed them into their perfect sizes and ratio's, they started off the same size on most bikes didnt they??

the tyre sizes are to do with power and weight ratio distribution, keeping stability and maneuverability. You can put a 180 rear in your bike and you'll notice a difference, faster turning, but spins up a bit too easy when powering on. remember a trre has a footprint and the experts have decided that this combination is the best for safety stability and usability. there prob are better combination's but at a sacrifice of safety!!!!

the weight of the front wheel, if its a 190 with the gyroscopic forces would be a nightmare to turn  ......

in last movie, tyres are huge-both front and rear , he turnes and even rides up the walls!!!

And there's only 1 guy in the worl who can ride it - it uses pneumatic actuators to turn it - it has a gyrospoe to keep it stable......

don't worry about all that Tyre stuff your drive yourself mad  .
just ride your bike and love it  :icon_thumright:

any way you cant even see your tyres when your on it .      im to busy trying to hang on to the bloody thing and spend a lot of time looking at the sky [greenie]

We are all aware that racing technology trickles down to us mere mortals on the streets right?
Well, where the hell are 16 1/2" wheels n tyres?

If the best in the business have settled on this size what the hell are will still doing on (mostly) 17"?

Swings and roundabouts! What you gain in quick steering, you lose in stability. For us mere mortals, they will err on the side of caution and give us stability.
