New R1.
« on: March 28, 2009, 10:01:00 PM »

Had a chance for a quick ride on a friends new R1 today. Bloody strange, your head knows it's an across frame 4 then your ears say twin/triple/????. Don't know why Yanaha gave it a six speed box you could ride it all day without going above 3rd. Or just leave it in 1st if you want to stay inside the national speed limit. The engine note dosen't change much and its very smooth so you don't get the feeling its being reved alot, therefore holding even 1st gear is easy right through the rev range. Power delivery dose not feel aggresive but watch the speedo and this thing is quick. With all the hype I hope the other jap manufactures don't all follow suit. I for one love the sound of a std. four being thrashed and it would be a shame to loose that. Grab a ride on one if you get the chance, it's worth it just for the  experience. :icon_thumright:

Looks like the ZX10R is the bargin of the year compared to the others, some dealers are knocking them out for little over 7k with 0% and free akky.

yes its the euro that affects the price of our bikes not the yen. As uk dealers dont buy them from japan they buy them from Europe, and once the delivery charges/storage ect go on it puts our prices up, also most metals are now a little more expensive hence an increase from japan

on the bright side at least the uk government dont charge a 40% tax on all new vehicles as well as a 19.5% vat bringing a new bike here to over 13000 euros!!!!

I saw two on the Wirral egg run yesterday, one from Bill Smiths, one with the red frame.  They need a tail tidy more than any bike I've seen.

Till April 1st then I think kawasaki will be increasing their prices by average 10% or so I'v read somewhere.......... :dontknow:.........looks like no one will escape price rises..............

I've seen more new R1s on the road than I've seen 2008/09 ZX10Rs, they just don't seem to be selling.  Come late August the price will plummet again,  and the 0% will return, ready for the 2010 model.
