phobia,s
« on: March 25, 2009, 09:23:14 AM »

anybody suffer from any?? mine most def is fear of flying, dunno why in fact ive actually flown about 12 times but i will do anything to get out of it if i can.ive actually been to an airport put my baggage through checkin and then couldnt get on the plane, my suitcase had 2wks in corfu and i had 3 days in blackpool!  :lol:just recently i also won a sales promotion at work for an all expenses 5 star 4 day trip to dubai and ive returned it in favour of getting a contract cleaned up by the end of the month worth a few quid to me but its not dubai! someone else will now go in my place.ive now decided that flying is simply not for me and i,l travel by other means from now on, why put myself through all the stress and anxiety of thr flight and then worry about the flight back just so i can have time abroad.

Sorry m8. Have to correct you here.

You havent got a fear of flying. Oh no, its a fear of crashing you've got  [rofl]

As long as youre flying theres no problem its when the plane stops flying that the problems start

(Why dont they make planes out of the same stuff as the "black box"? The planes would be indestructable but there'd be no feckin mountains left I guess  :tongue3: )

OR you could do what i do for a living which is fatigue and fracture mechanics mainly
on air cfaft landing gear etc and know exactly what goes on in the component parts of
an aircraft then you would never fly again, all parts are cracked to start with may be a micro crack
but it's their just waiting to grow and cause something to fall off.i just hate flying but have a parent company
in the states oh joy.

I had a friend once who had a phobia of fish if you can believe it, when we where wind surfing at a lake with loads of little fish around she was happy enough to lie on the board with a mask on and look at the fish but wouldnt get ibn the water in case they  "SUCKED" her

Personally i have no irrational fears but i dont particularly like heights but it doesnt cause me to freeze.

simple in the end man, jsut remember u ride a superbike and thats far more likely to kill you than the mere possability of a plane crash. get yourself out in a small boad on the sea for a little while to get used to the movement then just convince yourself you are there when you are in a plane.
