exactly andy

oh its a second quicker, i must forget my differnet tastes and buy a bike that is 1 second quicker than all the others

no disrespect but no one will be able to tell the difference anyways lol  :pottytrain2:
Got to disagree there, a second is a massive amount of time for 1 lap. If you look at the other bikes on test they were all well within a second of each other.

didnt say a second on track wasnt a massive difference, but these are road bikes for road riding, not race bikes for racers

these stupid write ups are aimed at the joe public

so how does one being a second quicker than the other make any difference what so ever is my point

its just more bullshit for knobs in the pub to spout on about my bikes quicker than your bike and all that shite lol

Err i don't get your point. If most people couldn't notice the difference when riding the new R1 then i'd say that yamaha have wasted millions of yen developing the engine. All those that have ridden it say it is a completely different experience to a conventional IL4 and so much easier to ride.

The times recorded on the tests were facts also. If rubbishing  the result makes you feel  better  about your own bike then good for you, but at least be man enough to admit that

rubbishing the results to make my bike look better?? i bought my bike because i wanted the zx10r, i didnt even look at claimed figures and shitty mag reviews

all i said in the begining is that you wont notice the difference in a 1 second quicker bike

is that so hard to believe

it's all about the looks for me and for many others and of course brand loyalty takes a top place for many too.

The performance is just irrelevant really and if it was so important then surely there would be no 10R purchases   :icon_scratch:

Maybe you should have said that you wouldn't notice the difference then.

fair play to be able to feel the differnece of 1 second when you race way from the traffic lights and hoon around country roads

the fact one bike is one second quicker on track means nothing when riding on the road, these articles are aimed at joe public not racers

just to put in my 2 pence worth the bike was 1 second a lap quicker on track with those guys on it. I will openly admit that my 06 zx10 produces more powere than my mates MV F4 1000 but he has a lot more experiance than me and if we pushed it he would leave me easy. So power isnt the only thing that comes into it. I always remember being on my old ns125 and beating a ferrari up a bank near me as i got the powere down just right and had the line i needed. he tried but i won  was a very happy little bike

Ditto spending over a grand gettingt a few bhp on your 10 that you can only notice on the dyno.

well i would`nt go as far as saying 1 second is a lot, it is if your rossi or stoner as these guys do perfect lap after lap, these mag road testers, club racers, track dayers cant do a perfect lap after lap, so 1 second is`nt all that much for us normal real world riders.
And yes i reckon with the same rider who tested these bikes the 10 could easy be 1 second a lap quicker with even some braided lines and a good m/c,
not sure how many corners there are on that track but lets say it 10 corners he only needs to be a 10th of a second quicker each corner to be 1 second a lap quicker over all.

The r1 will easy be the best selling bike this year just because of what it is and its something new, were all talking about it! is`nt that what yamaha want? next thing is they`ll be hard to get.
Personally i dont be a bike for looks, i buy for its spec and performance and handling, i would rather have a bike i can ride well rather than a good looking bike.

It wasn't one rider testing the bikes, there were several. The reason the R1 lapped so well was the confidence it gave them to open the throttle early. It wasn't the most powerful bike on test, nor did it have the fastest top speed.
