Nice to know you enjoyed the pillion ride enough to go for your licence !

Wouldn't bother too much with the kit until after you've completed the AFF as it'll all be included in the price & you'll have a far better understanding of what you want afterwards & more importantly, if you want it - I'm always surprised by the number of people who I meet who've done their AFF, enjoyed it but never jumped since.

If you're not going to be jumping until later in the year, then you could consider doing some wind tunnel training before hand to get you used to correct body positioning, not cheap but really useful.  There's a couple of simulators in the UK, one at the Xscape snow dome in Milton Keynes  - http://www.airkix.com/  & another in bedford - http://www.bodyflight.co.uk/tunnel/  both do courses designed for starter skydivers, not been to the one in Bedford, but Xscape is pretty good.

Whatever you decide & do, I can guarantee you'll never quite look at the sky in the same way again & will get some great memories, I'm just a fun jumper, but this time last year I was out in Morocco doing a sunset jump at the base of the Atlas mountains, incredible experience.   :glasses9:

Aye up G....you know me...late on a thread as always!

I've done 2 freefalls (for Charidee mate) and 1 static line.   Awesome.  2nd tandem freefall was from about 14,500 ft on a snowy November saturday.  But when we broke cloud cover was incredible.....but the snow hitting you face felt like sandblasting.  Best exfoliator ever (oo errr sailor).  Oh...and my freefall instructor looked just like Rod Stewart!

I'm very intereseted in doing my AFF and would be up for it.  Both my freefalls where done at Hinton in Northampton....

B-) cool pics there guys... buzzing just looking at them.

Well just got back from Langar, all signed up and start in Feb. couldnt start any sooner because of work commitments etc but hey ho here we go..

tel you what pat, theres no way id go through the Aff then not bother to go on jumping, but i suppose when you look at the cost of kit etc that could put people off.

all i know is its the biggest RUSH ive ever felt and wanting more big time.

roll on feb :headbang:

Thanks :hello2:.................(well in the words of HORSE and KEIRON..........that gota be worth some bhp)

no ,look if you want i still noo some real sky gods that are still active, plus ive jumped all up and down the country

if you need help getting started just pm me,,there is a good DZ in Nottingham call Langer, or its full name is British parachute schools........this place is tops mainly because its open 7 days a week including xmas day....(nothing beats jumping from 10,000 on xmas day espesial when its -10 at altiude,,,then landing and having a hot toddie.............

Headcorn is another down south,, and a realy cool place to hang out is peterbrough,,,,

but hay come up North and we can spoilyea with the Black Knights Para centre,,this is my local DZ they now have a full tarmac runway and a full time porter plane,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

just to show the differance a cessna 185 with 5 jumpers on board will take 45 mins to 10,000 feet
but a porter with 9 jumpers on board will take just 15 mins to get to 13,000 and will fly passed you in free fall and be on the ground with another load on ready for take off just as you land........................ :headbang:

Not gonna black cat ya cause thats quite impressive, always thought it was a wonderful feeling jumping after  either teaching or just plain having fun with the other 'sky gods'.

I did my highest jump out of an islander, got to over 18000 feet, but I started to go hypoxic at just under 15k on the way up, so we had to use oxygen.  All we had was a mask like they use for administering to patients and had to pass it around the 5 of us.  take a breath and you feel ok, next breath withouht it you felt pissed again.  Still on that particular jump we managed to clock over 1min 30 secs in freefall!

My D license number was 8148, I actually stopped ju'mping back in 2001 because of a scare whilst doing a jump into London at Horseguards parade, was jumping as a member of the 'Tri -force Parachute display team, which included the Red Freds, The Navy 'Raiders' and the RAF Falcons.  After 1500 jumps and  nearly 20 hours freefall I felt I had nothing left to prove.  The tosser who caused the problem wouldn't admit or realise he had fucked up, so i decided to call it a day right there and then, had 2 kids to look after and a loving wife to 'jump ' if i wanted to...  [rofl]

Made a number of jumps from different AC.  Tailgating out the Herc (or any other tail gate) has got to be the biggest buzz.  Helicopters are always fun, generally cause you can get more people in them than the smaller planes you find at most DZs.

CRW ( Canopy Relative Work) wasn't a particular favourite of mine, but I was selected as part of the team that won the British Nationals at Bridlington in '93.  We were selected to represent Britain at the worlds the following year, but the Marines wouldn't give us all the time off due to work comittments, so that was the end of that... bit of a bummer reeally, would've liked to represent my country.

Teaching was a good thing to do, used to teach both static line and freefall, I was the first Marine to go from AFF graduate to  instructor.  Not only that, but used to meet and fuck stacks of chicks simply beacause I was and instructor, not that I would ever abuse my position in any way!!!!!

So, is anyone on the site gonna do a skydive or anything, I would be willing to come and lend my support and cheer you on!

Yes I got my A-License at Lake Elsinore, California in September. It is the best thing I have EVER done. As soon as I get a bit of time back from building the car I will be down to Nethers to get some more jumps in. I am certainly no sky-god but everyone has to start some time!

Just the most insane yet incredible thing in the world.... JUST DO IT!

My 20th Jump!!
