its a bloody ridiculous idea,hopefully they wont develope the rear facing average speed cameras although im sure they,ll think of another way to catch us.

i'm actually confused why they use forward facing ones, the ones here in nl ar rear facing so its easilly done.  Maybe the guy who thought it up for the uk was a biker

well, i can tell you that the ones here(that are definately rear facing) have been for at least 3 years on the a10 and a4, they are hidden behind the signs over the road so you cant see them, (the allowance for going over the lmit here is 3km/h so i have had an unbelievable number of fines cause of doing 8km/h over the limit or so in those areas

and yes before you ask the dutch are bastards

They've just got the type approval here for the rear facing ones as they have the same issues as the front facing where they can be fooled by changing lanes. Apparently the new software solves that and they are completely digital so send all the images back to a central control and have live imaging so can be used to track and vector on vehicles if they want to.
Big brother anyone?...........

BTW, that is already being used in Hampshire for those of you down here , they use the ANPR, SPECS and Traffic Master to link up and monitor vehicles coming into and out off the county and they can tell if a vehicle comes in but a different one goes out, if you get my drift...................
