A move down under
« on: February 21, 2009, 01:39:36 PM »

Anyone been to the  Melbourne area ?

The Mrs has her heart set on a move down under - and tbh I don't blame her - BUT - most importantly - can I still ride like a knob on bendy tarmacced roads - ?

Good freind lives there, and once you get out off Suburbs the roads are cracking! but its bloody hot this time off year. Best to go out on bike in morning or later in afternoon. Also Philip Island is stone throws away.

Go for it pal, my sister went over to Melbourne just over 2 years ago and loves it. She bought a 4 bed detatched house with a shared pool and big f**k off garage for same as a 3 bed semi here.

Standard of living is a bit better, everyone speaks English, and they drive on the left  :icon_thumright:

The only difference is you generally need 30% deposit for a mortgage and the areas where the work is are a wee bit more expensive.

Best of all, the aussie Gov. doesn't f**k about when it comes to equality issues. They put there own citizens first, not like here, ruddy tree huggers and pc brigade wont survive over there.
