Re-living my youth/ courtesy of ebay!
« on: February 16, 2009, 09:48:27 PM »

Well i guess it must be another mid-life episode but, i suspect that most of you guys around my age may have spent your teens dreaming about being the next Doohan or Rainey but my  teens found this guy being a formative musical inspiration.(Stewart Copeland- The Police) The early 80,s i found myself to be the proud owner of a "Tribute drumkit" (had to specially order each drum from Japan). Gave up music early 90,s but recently found myself wanting that "old drumkit" back again. Well it hit home like a sledgehammer when i found my old kit listed as "vintage drums" made it a little harder to source, (being vintage like me) but the wonders of ebay prevailed. They arrived today so i,m like a kid at x,mas, they need a little restoration, ( but then again, so do i)  [rofl]

It,s a Tama imperialstar kit "vintage 1983" kit. Shellpack only so far. currently sourcing a 1983" King-beat" snare on ebay. Cymbals to follow( they will cost more than the whole kit,, Sabian AAX in mind!)

so you,re a zildjian man shongy! what series, a-custom?
I had a great "I told you so" episode recently. Was sat with the missus watching MTV cribs with Taylor Hawkins from foo fighters showing you round his Malibu pad. Well i have commented before to the Mrs about how much he reminds me of Mr Copeland, both in his playing style and his appearance. Well we got the usual "here,s my pool,,, Heres my games room,,,ect when he enters a room he called his "Shrine to Copeland room". had Copeland posters all over the walls plus a couple of old TAMA kits like Copeland used to play.  [pray]   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGQYI_TL8VQ

I don't play Magic, I used to be a roadie and ran a compnay transporting and setting up backline and pa for bands. I've owned guitars( still have a bass up in hte loft) and played side drum in the school band for a year but gave that up as a bad hobby. I've been involved in the music industry since i was 13
