automatic speed limiting on the way
« on: January 05, 2009, 07:54:57 PM »

A system which automatically slows down cars to the speed limit could help save lives, according to a government report.

The device uses satellite positioning to check its location and when the speed exceeds the limit, power is reduced and the brakes are applied if necessary.

but what happens when theres no gps coverage? or someones in the process of overtaking when the speed limit changes, or cant overtake someone sitting at 50 on a 60 limit cause it will take too long and become dangerous???

If you watched the the news on the demo car, there was a Red and Green button on the Steering wheel, so you can turn on and off the speed control!

hows it gonna stop people from speeding up when you try to overtake them? it will only mean that when they speed up you cant go faster than they can so you are stuck beside them

I thought you said it was only for cars,  other bikes dont seem to have a problem being passed and most give wave etc. Its that small group of people in cars who hate to be passed and either speed up or after being passed seem hell bent on passing you no matter how dangerous.  They will never limit bikes no room for box wiring etc.  Not sure about that switch idea some one will just find a way to bypass or overide permanantly.
