back again
« on: January 04, 2009, 06:53:53 PM »

well, after heading home for christmas and having serious withdrawl symptoms from lack of internet I am back in nl and back on the site :) i have obvioulsy got a lot of posts to catch up on which may take some time.

came home to find all our tropical fish had died :( somehow the heater had got unplugged before or whilst we where away causing a mass extinction.

christmas was hectic, it was the first christmas for my son and his to cousins, i have never seen such a big pile of presents in my life, they took up a whole room at my sisters house.
I got a nice titanium watch from my wife which will help keep the weight down on the bike :) and a new torque wrench and a pile of other tools from my dad plus the obligatory clothing from my sisters and mum :).  We then headed up the highlands for a few days climbed a waterfall and got wasted for a few nights, virtually no snow tho :(

we then hit the edinburgh street party for new year and have got to say its the most expensive and shit street party in edinburgh history, there where only just over 100,000 people ont he street, a far cry from the 750,000 in 1997 (i have been every year apart from last since 95).

well back to work tomorrow so will give me a chance to catch up on the posts i missed here :)

Hi truescot,

Have to agree with you on the Edinburgh street party, I've been to a couple and worked at a couple and it has gone downhill over the last few years.

The backdrop of the castle is the biggest draw for the tourists really, not the party itself.
Still hope you enjoyed your visit back here, what do you miss the most? My missus has 2 brothers oversea and they both miss toasted plain bread & haggis suppers.

haggis suppers, irn bru, salt and vinager crisps, pies, chips, helmans mayonaise and a few other things. I did enjoy myself event ho the party was sub par, we had some SA friends over with us so paratied hard with them (as hard as my wife could party she's 6 months preggers :) )

That's the spirit, parties are only as good as the people at them I say.

Springtime baby too, hope that won't eat into your biking time too much.

All the best in the New Year for you and the rest of your family.
