hi there guys (and gals) anyone owned / could give advice or what you'd pick out of the following....

going to be replacing my old faithfull R reg fiesta 1.3 and looking to buy either

Golk mk 4 GTi 1.8t
BMW 320 E46 pref coupe
Honda civic type r
Lexus is200

even honda accord saloon 4 door type S 2.4i VTEC

any other suggestions? thought about an A3/A4 but don't think i'm posh enough lol

got around 5k to spend, car's just for me as mrs has hers doen't need to be too practical etc

most cars above would be around 51/02 plate perhaps even Y reg for beemer to suit price bracket

would have done a poll but don't know how to do one  :dontknow:

Tony,

I've got a Golf Mk4 GTi 1.8t (180bhp version). It's got all the options on it and goes like stink. Still getting 34 mpg too  :icon_thumright:

I would say stay clear of the lexus ls200, my friend has one and its a nice car etc but he has gone thru 2 clutches on it in 3 years.
it might be the way he drives but still 2 clutches is a bit much,

i have an anniversary MK4 golf gti 1.8t (not a real anniversary) but has genuine vw kit fitted with audi tt 18"alloys and eibach suspension
and its unbrakeable i kill it everywhere and never do a thing to it, i can honestly say the best car i`v had in terms of reliability and its good all round for me if i wanna drive like a nob or when we got out with the kids.

A good friend of mine has just sold a clio 172 cup he had from new, in two years it a a couple of head gaskets, two engine mounts and a drive shaft. He got so pissed of with it he`s replaced it with a new golf gti  :icon_thumleft:

i have owned the 330ci coupe ... completely different to the 2 ltr but the chassis is amazing,,, so still and planted .. the rear wheel drive is amazing..
I currently have an M3 so nothing to compare really ....

to be honest if I was on a budget I would go for the golf...... if i wasn't then the beemer....

all about german cars ... and jap bike
