what bike made you smile the most
« on: November 21, 2008, 11:10:38 PM »

as much as I love my 10R, I have to say that this bike made me smile the most.

what a great bike with enough power and loads of fun, for me it was a great bike but just didn't work for me well not when I saw the 10r arrive on the scene.

yes it handled like a bag of potatoes but who cares

I recommend these for certain and would have another without hesitatation  :icon_thumright:

Tough one, it's between my old gixxer 750 slabbie with dymags and ohlins kit on 5 up on rear sprocket and various other yoshi bits and dyna coils etc and my zx636 B1, on balance the B1 probably shades it because everytime I get off it I've got a big beam on my face and I fall in love with it a little more... :headbang:

Mine was a 95 ZXR750L3. My first big bike, a proper heavy metal bike, absolutely mental and in some ways I wish I'd never moved on to the 7r, which is a "better" bike but not quite as Banzai! I know it would feel tame compared to my 08 ZX10 but it's all relative.

I do still have a Fieldsheer one-pice in black and purple that matched the ZXR. :)

What are you suggesting? I managed to get them on in July but had to take them off straight away in order to breathe in.  :-S

I've just come back from a fortnight in Florida though, and given the size of American portions I suspect the answer to your question is now "No".   :emb:

My '99 R1, it's a fast bike for the real world, where people ride in town and ride in poor conditions, it doesn't stutter at low speeds, and doesn't rust if you sneeze, it came with good brakes as standard, and doesn't flash the fuel light til north of 120 miles.  Much as I like the 10 it usually leaves me feeling frustrated at how good it might have been, the R1 just gets on with it, after 64,000 miles it still makes me laugh out loud.

Might be strange to say but I seem to remember the most smiles have been brought to me by my old XJR1300 - soooooooo much torque and just a really awesome " feel good " machine - nothing better on a nice warm sunny evening or morning , swinging through the countryside on the ol' beast  :headbang:

well, i loved my old 95 zzr600 (first road bike) everyone loves their first road bike tho, was a bloody fast little machine, not so good on the fuel if you hammered it tho, i managed to drain a tank in under 60 miles when i was late for a ferry once.

My xt600 which was converted for off road use only made me grin a lot too, that single cylider could get you up the most rediculous hills (anyone from around edinburgh would be aware of the broxburn bings :) )

then there was my 98 r1, what a machine, it eclipsed everything i had afterwards until i got my hands on the 10,

and of course my 05 10 :)

theres a few others but very difficult to decide which one made me smile the most

Gotta be my old TL1000R. Near vertical wheelies from walking pace. And the handling was fine, mind you , I was 16 stone at the time.
